So-called experts will caution you against drinking caffeine or alcoholic beverages during this heat wave. But if they're not lying then they're stupid and either way you should ignore their bad advice. Black coffee is very hydrating and it is NOT a diuretic. Alcohol can be served cold and with a glass of ice water.

Water is like the water of life

All beverages contain water. Nobody's out there just quaffing jugs of oil, right? If I were I would be way more worried about not having anything to drink than I would be about choosing the wrong beverage.
